China Celebrates 75th National Day with Thai Leaders

Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, Han Zhiqiang, delivered a speech at a reception celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in Bangkok on the evening of September 24, 2024.
More than 2,000 guests attended the reception, including Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, President of the Thai National Assembly Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, Vice Premier Anutin Charnvirakul, Vice Premier Peeraphan Saleerathaviphak, Vice President of the Thai National Assembly Meng Kun, President of the China Overseas Chinese Business Federation Lin Chuqin, President of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Xu Huishen, and Chairman of the Chaozhou Association.
Han Zhiqiang reflected on the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held in July, reviewing China’s achievements since its founding and highlighting the country’s steady progress, innovation, and increasingly positive international image. He emphasised that China’s high-quality development presents valuable opportunities for Thailand.
Since 2023, China’s economy has generally recovered, with GDP exceeding 125 trillion yuan and contributing over 30% to global economic growth. Investment by Chinese enterprises in Thailand has surged, with more than 850 Chinese companies registered with the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, which has effectively boosted Thailand’s export capacity, foreign exchange earnings, tax revenues, and employment opportunities. In 2024, China’s economic recovery is expected to continue, and the country’s new productivity growth will strongly support high-quality development, creating fresh opportunities for Thailand’s economic recovery and driving global economic growth.
Han stressed that China and Thailand are good neighbours linked by mountains and rivers, close relatives sharing blood ties, and strong partners with a shared destiny. Over the past three years, mutual assistance has reinforced the enduring friendship between China and Thailand. With the recent implementation of visa exemption policies between the two countries, exchanges in various fields have deepened, tourism cooperation has strengthened, police cooperation has improved, and trade has expanded—all significant milestones for regional integration. Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Thailand. Han expressed readiness to work with all sectors in Thailand to support each other’s stable development, safeguard peace and prosperity, and elevate China-Thailand relations to new heights, benefitting both nations.
In his speech, the President of the Thai National Assembly noted that over the 49 years since diplomatic ties were established, Thailand has witnessed China’s impressive development under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Bilateral relations have deepened, and a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has been established. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Thailand appreciates China’s assistance and support. Since 1st March this year, Thailand and China have entered the era of visa-free access. Thailand looks forward to opening new horizons in cooperation with China and hopes to continue working closely with the Chinese Embassy to promote the sustainable development of bilateral relations.
Wan Muhamad Noor Matha extended his best wishes on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, expressing hopes for prosperity, strength, and sustainable development for the Chinese people. He emphasised the importance of working together with China to safeguard East Asia, deepen cooperation, and jointly promote regional development.
